Loren Hufford
Loron Hufford, born February 10, 1889 in Mulvane KS to Charles A Hufford (born in VA) and Ada Shervinton Hufford (census states she was born in Canada, England). He had siblings Grace (1892), Glenn (1894), Roy (1896), and Arthur (1906). The March 1895 Kansas Census states that the family was living Clay KS. Loron (age 21) married Grace Buena Whiteman (age 20) on December 20, 1910 and they had daughter Anneliese the same year. Grace died November 4, 1911. In 1916, Loron (age 28) married Jennie Poehner (age 28). They had children Eugene (1918), Marjorie (1919), and Vernon (1927). On his WW1 draft registration card, Loron stated that he was married and that he lived in Sedgwick County, KS. The draft recorded that he was of medium build, "tall", hair light brown and eyes brown. His WW2 draft registration card recorded that he was bald, lived in Clearwater KS, 6 ft tall, weighed 190 lbs, and had a ruddy complexion.

I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
