2017 obituary. PORTLAND - Martin M. Foley, 70, of Portland passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 17, 2017 at his home. He was born in Portland on May 22, 1947, the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Keaney) Foley. He graduated from Cheverus High School with the class of 1965. Marty was a member of IBEW Local 567 for 49 years. He was an electrician and supervisor working on jobs throughout New England. He held several elected positions in the union. He was employed with E.S. Boulos company for many years. He was extremely respected by his colleagues both as a friend and supervisor. Marty was an avid sports fan, attending many Red Sox and Patriot games. Uncle Marty could often be found on the sidelines of his nieces and nephews games always being one of their biggest supporters. In his younger years he enjoyed skiing and bowling. Reading was another passion of his. Marty enjoyed socializing with his extended family at Parker's Restaurant. He is survived by his mother, eight siblings; 17 nieces and nephews; and many many friends. He was predeceased by his father Joseph Foley; and brother-in-law Charles Hester. The family invites you to attend visiting hours at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland on Sunday Aug. 20, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Aug. 21, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. Josephs Church, Stevens Ave, Portland followed by a committal service at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
