Marvin Courtney
I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the COURTNEY Family. The first is one of Marvin COURTNEY which appears to have been taken in the early 1900's when Marvin was in his teens. The second photograph is identified only as "Grandma COURTNEY" and was taken in the 1880's or 1890's with the woman appearing to be in her 60's or 70's at the time it was taken. Neither photograph includes a studio or location, however, they were recovered with other photographs from Whatcom County Washington. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family:
Marvin Dean COURTNEY was b. 24 Oct 1893 in Imboden, AR to parents John Robert COURTNEY (1867-1939) and Cora Belle or Bell DEAN (1873-1917). Marvin was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Marvin D.; Morgan D.; Deller or Della Mae; Ida J.; T. Ethel; Lennie E.; Clarence “Bill” E. Wright; and Clay M. COURTNEY all born between 1893 and 1910. Marvin married Lula DUIM (1905 or 1906-1985) and together they had 4 children including a daughter Bernice June (1927-1987). Marvin died 30 Dec 1992 in Bellingham, WA and is buried in the Lynden Cemetery in Lynden, WA.
