Mary “Sissy” (Kane) Sullivan
Obituary Mary “Sissy” Kane Sullivan of Wellesley Hills passed away on July 29, 2023. She was 84 years old. Sissy was dedicated to her family, her dogs, and the town of Wellesley where she lived most of her adult life. Raised in Lake Forest, IL, Sissy graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College) Class of 1961 and married her best friend’s (Gael Daly) brother, Gregory. While working in hospital admissions and raising 4 children in Wellesley Hills, Sissy became devoted to the community and vigorously volunteered time first as a crossing guard, the League of Women Voters, and as a decades-long elected member of Town Meeting and Wellesley’s Planning Board. After working to financially manage college tuition for her children, Sissy Sullivan joined the financial planning industry and put her economics major from college to work. Sissy’s love of family and her adopted town were only eclipsed by the bond with her dogs. Freckles, Rosie, Daisy, Siri, Daffy, Mandy, Lucy, and Leo were beloved pets and Sissy relished spreading the love and joy she experienced with them. Sissy leaves her two sons, Gregory of Rockport (spouse Ann Woodbury), Thomas of Arlington (spouse Juliane Sullivan): two daughters, Beezee (Honan) of Marblehead (spouse Tom Honan), Barbara (Roehrig) of Denver (spouse Chip Roehrig): one brother, Michael (spouse Judy Kane): and grandchildren, Maura, Timothy, Melissa, Jess, Charles, Calvin, and Gregory. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Thursday, August 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00pm at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home located at 477 Washington Street in Wellesley. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning, August 4th at St. John the Evangelist, 9 Glen Road, Wellesley Hills at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to MSPCA-Angell or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer’s Association in Sissy’s name.
