A snapshot of the Ashenden family found at a Texas antique store with other photos of the Ashenden family of Massachusetts. Description uploaded separately. The older baby on the left is identified as Richard Murray, but Richard apparently wasn't born until after his grandfather Daniel (holding the little boy) had died. I think the boy is therefore more likely to be Richard's brother Edward. Left to right: Daniel C. Evans holding Edward Francis Murray; Eva (Ashenden) Murray, Thomas Edward Ashenden holding Harley Elizabeth (Frye) Fowler; Lillian (Ashenden) Frye-Lawton.

Found in an antique store. Name on back "Jennie Howe Barri". Photographer information "Geo. H. Van Norman, Springfield, Mass." Note all the beads sewn onto her dress. I wonder if she made it herself or had a seamstress do it. Her first husband, Benjamin Porter Howe, was the nephew of Elias Howe, Jr. who invented the sewing machine.

A photo of Charles Henry Chaffee. A son of Capt. Ezra Chaffee, Charles lived in Lynn, Mass. He is shown here in his fireman's uniform. He was an "engineer" with the fire department in Lynn for many years. At that time engineers kept the fire wagons repaired between fighting fires. His father was a sea captain in the silk trade and died near Canton, China. His mother died when he was only about 18 months old and while the father was on his last voyage. He married 3 times, the last to Finette Seaman Cowen.
