A Christmas Photo card in 1955? Yes, if your Dad was a commercial photographer! My Dad make several photo Christmas cards with his own photos of me. They may be all the rage now, but they were unique back then. Burbank Studios in Boston, Ken Burbank was my father. Well done, Dad!

Khalil Gibran (born Gubran Khalil Gubran - when he registered for school they mistakenly changed his name!) was born in Lebanon and emigrated to the U.S. with his parents. He was the author of The Prophet (1923) - not especially popular with the critics when it was published but readers in the 1960's made this a classic. This made him the 3rd best selling poet of all time. I love this quote from "Sand and Foam" (1926): "Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you" Photo courtesy of the Library of Congress, Fred Holland Day, photographer

Caleb & Orpha (Slawter) Cannon, taken in 1920: Orpha Slawter Cannon was born in 1859 in Logan, ILL. She is the mother of Albert Wesley Neal supposedly born in Rose Grove, Iowa in 1876. Albert's obituary said she was widowed when he was an infant but in the 1880 census says she is single and Albert is not listed. I believe she married Caleb Cannon in Nebraska or Iowa then traveled to Massachusetts. From Massachusetts the census records show them in Nebraska and Mississippi.
