That depends ;-) If she was loved, she was lucky. But if she had those material things to compensate for the absence of parents, probably not so lucky.
Many of the old pictures are really great! I have 3 horizontal photos of my grandmother when she was a baby with my great grandmother from around 1913.... My grandmother is laughing and smiling just like favorite baby photos of today :)

My son has a very old teddy that his grand mother gave him and now I gave it back for his daughter,so as it goes the teddy is for Juliet from her GGrand mother! :D
My grandmother's parents were middle class....but like may of the family's after the stock market crash.....their comfortable life style changed dramaticly.......they liived thorugh the hard times.....and recovered...my grandmother who is this child was wonderful.
