He had siblings John Bretton, Charles Edward Bretton, Clara Marvel Bretton, Henry Lyman Bretton, Gerald Clarence Bretton, Mavor Orlin Bretton, Avery Preston Bretton, Winifred Arlene Bretton, Agnes Luella Bretton, William Henry Bretton, Janie Bretton, Walter Roy Bretton, Kathryn Sophia Bretton, and Oscar Bretton. He married Ethel Ann Smith, and had children Ralph Wade Bretton, Roy Orlin Bretton, Lila Lorraine Bretton, Rex Coleman Bretton, and Luella Maxcine Bretton. Mavor Bretton died at age 77 years old on January 28, 1989, and was buried in Phillipsburg.
