Merle S (Snyder) Mceathron
Merle was born to James R. Snyder and Cynthie Foster in 1895 in Monroe City Indiana. She was also known as Merle Sny Lynn, Merle Osmundsen, and Merle Sny Snyder. According to her obituary, Merle was survived by her son Virgil (wife Mabel), 2 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She died in Phoenix AZ but lived on an Indiana farm early in her life. In 1912, she met a "dashing young man in a horse and buggy" staring at her at the end of a baseball game. His name was Louis. Cornoyer One day, Louis rode across the Walbash River into Illinois and got a marriage license and they got married. By her early 20s, she was a single mother so she opened a general store in Vincennes that became known as "The Biggest Little Store in Town". After World War 2, she moved to Phoenix AX where she was employed by the Westward Ho Hotel for 10 years. During this time, she was visiting a friend in Los Angeles and became a contestant on the gameshow "Queen For A Day". She won! Merle lived to be 105 and was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Cornoyer, her second husband, Richard Osmundson, her third husband, Robert Lyen, and her fourth husband, Elsworth Mceathron , Scroll down to read an interview that she gave about her life a few months before she died.

From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
