Norma Jean (Roos) Dettmer of Syracuse, Otoe County, Nebraska United States was born on November 4, 1925 in Syracuse to Theodore "Ted" Wilhelm Roos and Fanny Meta (Janssen) Roos. She married Elmer Dietrich Friedrich Dettmer on October 12, 1944 in Syracuse, Otoe County, and they were married until Norma's death on January 14, 2005. She had a child Dee Ann (Dettmer) Young. Norma Dettmer was buried at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Otoe County.

Elmer Dietrich Friedr Dettmer of Syracuse, Otoe County, NE was born on May 16, 1919 in Avoca, Cass County to William "Bill" Dettmer and Hattie (Kirchoff) Dettmer. He had siblings Harvey Henry John Dettmer, Vernon Richard Dettmer, and Arthur Dettmer. Elmer Dietrich was baptized on June 8, 1919 at First Lutheran (North Branch) Church in Avoca. He married Norma Jean (Roos) Dettmer on October 12, 1944 in Syracuse, Otoe County United States, and they were married until Norma's death on January 14, 2005. He had a child Dee Ann (Dettmer) Young. Elmer Dietrich Dettmer died at age 90 years old on January 16, 2010 in Syracuse.

I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
