Pierre CHAMPEAU
I have in my possession and old photograph of Pierre CHAMPEAU, which was taken at the Brittingham Studio in Keokuk, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Pierre likely in his 60's at the time the photograph was taken. There is a middle initial written with his name, but I can't make it out for sure. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Pierre and his family:

Pierre “Peter” Marie Prudent or Predeu CHAMPEAU was b. 1 Jul 1833 in Paris, France to parents Francis or Francois CHAMPEAU or CHAMPEAUX (b. 1807) and Marie Louise or Louisa Margaret or Maryam or Margeurite FROMENTINE or FROMESTINE or MAHE (b. 1810 or 1811). Pierre had two siblings, Francois “Frank” Pierre CHAMPEAU (1830-1913) and Pierre Francois CHAMPEAU (b. 1839). Pierre was married twice, first to Marie or Mary Louise SABLIER or SABER or SABLIEER or SUBLER or STABLIER or SABOURIN (1836-1883) on 18 Mar 1855 in Hancock Co., IL.

He had 6 children with his first wife including Julia or Julie or Julius Heloise or Eloise; Amel or Emile or Amile Maximilian; Christopher; Michael or Michelange Anglo or Angelo; Ernest; and Eglantine “Teeny” CHAMPEAU, all born between 1856 and 1875. Pierre married a second time after the death of his first wife to Lycia or Lecia A. SAVAGE (1870-1947) on 13 Sept 1897 in Keokuk, IA and they had one child, a son Robert CHAMPEAU (1898-1965). I am guessing that this photograph was taken at the time of his second marriage.

Pierre died 24 Jul 1900 in Sonora Township, Hancock Co., IL and he is buried there as well.

I am hoping to get this treasure back to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
