Pieter Willem Aderjan Coetzer was born on May 12, 1892 in Vrede, Thabo Mofutsanyane County, FS South Africa to Johannes Jacobus Coetzer and Elizabeth Coetzer, and had siblings Johanna Maria (Coetzer) McLaughlan, Elizabetha (Coetzer) Van Der Schyff, Hester Ralie (Coetzer) Erasmus, Theunis Louis Coetzer, and Anna Catharina Coetzer. He married Magdalena Gertbrecht (Stols) Coetzer on June 4, 1917 in Vereeniging, Sedibeng County, GP, and they were married until Magdalena's death circa January 1, 1921. He had children Johannes Jacobus Coetzer and Wynand Smith Coetzer. Pieter Coetzer died at age 29 years old on January 15, 1922 at Johannesburg General Hospital in Johannesburg, TVL. From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown.
