His wife, the former Joan Hyman, recalled him selling keychains for a dime, or two for 15 cents, in front of the University of Michigan's football stadium. They married in 1948.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two sons, Steven and Jonathan; and a daughter, Laurie.
