I am Stacy Evans of Granville, Ohio. I would like to inquire about the Richard Evans in the miniature that you posted. The name Richard Evans is used many times in my family. In fact, my father was named Richard Evans.
He was my GGGG grandfather and came from Dover Kent. I have this miniature of him and one of his wife, Ann, probably painted in the late 18th century. He may have had a naval connection as his son-in-law John Pepper was a naval Commodore. I don't know much else. No connection with the US that I know of. It is a very common name of course.
