Ritchie Dion Holbrook of Elkin passed away April 18, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Holbrook was born August 24, 1968 in Surry County to Leon and Polly Rhymer Holbrook.

He was a member of Traphill Masonic Lodge #483.

In addition to his father, Leon Holbrook, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lawrence Holbrook; maternal grandparents, Albert & Cannie Rhymer; and his paternal great-grandmother, Dee Ett Holbrook; paternal great-grandparents, Woodson & Myrtle Newman.

Survivors include, his wife, Lori Waters Holbrook of the home; two sons, Daniel Holbrook of Louisville, KY, Joseph Holbrook of the home; three daughters, Brytanie Holbrook of Louisville, KY, Megan Waters of the home and Hannah Holbrook of the home; his mother, Polly Rhymer Holbrook; his grandmother, Lucy Newman Holbrook; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marty Holbrook and his wife Tara all of Elkin, Randy Holbrook and his wife Felisa of Pleasant Garden.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Traphill Baptist Church.

Mr. Holbrook was first married to Kim Foster (Byrd).

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
