Robert K. Holbrook CLAREMONT — Robert Kenneth Holbrook, formerly of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away surrounded by family on May 18, 2022, in Concord, New Hampshire. Bob was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on Dec. 7, 1927, to the late Raymond Clark Holbrook and Bessie Smith. Robert married his first love, Doris Theriault, in 1946. They moved to Manchester, New Hampshire, where he worked at Crystal Laundry and Dry Cleaners for 30 years as manager of the dry-cleaning department. In 1977, he moved to Claremont, where he owned and operated Veterans Cleaners on Washington Street. In 1990, he sold Veterans Cleaners and went to work for Valley Regional Hospital for 20 more years. Robert married Virginia "Ginny" Hoffman in 1982. She passed away March 25, 2010. Bob was a 50-year member of the Masons: past master of Lafayette Lodge of Masons; a member of Hiram Lodge in Claremont; and Lodge Council Chapter Consistory in Nashua (32nd Degree). Bob was a Claremont Police Commissioner for six years, a member of the Moose Elks, and the first member of the Kiwanis to receive the Hixson Award for service. He is survived by four children: Scott Holbrook (Sally), of East Falmouth, Massachusetts; Barry Holbrook (Linda), of Manchester, New Hampshire; Lisa Holbrook, of Manchester, New Hampshire; and Mark Holbrook (Laurie), of Rye, New Hampshire. He leaves six grandchildren, Lee Holbrook (Erin) and Martin Holbrook (Corinne), Hannah Holbrook (Adam Paine) and Eliza Holbrook LeBeau (Chris), and Hunter Holbrook (Lauren Ellman) and Connor Holbrook (Peyton Kent); plus, five great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at the Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont, New Hampshire on Monday, June 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arrowhead Recreation Area in Claremont, New Hampshire () or the Sh

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
