His Mother was Fanny Forrest of Midhurst. She went to Cape of Good Hope (now Rep. South Africa) in 1890's as Nanny to English family. There she met a German, Rowland Robert Henriet Behn and they had 5 kids; Rowland, Frederick (my father), Dorothy, Emily and Ethel.. Fanny brought them all back to Midhurst in 1905. Rowland lied about his age to join RNAS.
