Salvatore Francis Bova was born on August 2, 1924 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York United States to Angelo F Bova (1903-1967) and Josephine Vungaro-Bova (1904-1969). He had siblings Gerald D Bova, Nancy tirone, Angelo f Bova Jr, Margaret Metzler, and Richard Bova. Salvatore enlisted on March 31, 1943, in Buffalo, New York. His service number was 32929771 and he held the rank of Private. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was assigned to Squadron "A" of the 324th Army Air Force Base Unit. On April 7, 1943, he officially joined the unit and later reached the rank of Sergeant (Sgt). Salvatore continued his service until his honorable discharge on February 14, 1946. On October 16, 1948 he married Phyllis Marie Reehling (1929–2005) in Buffalo, Erie, New York, USA. They later separated and he then re married to Marlynne Katherine Reehling (1927–1996) on July 1, 1960 in Buffalo, Erie, New York, USA. He and Marlynne had a son together; Sal Bova.
