Samuel Jackson Lewis tintype
This photo of Samuel Jackson Lewis is from the Barker album of Aunt Mary Barker French. My grandfather belonged to the Odd Fellows & served as a school trustee. He helped build the Valley View School where his children attended. When his brother Nathaniel's wife died, the kids were taken in by my grandparents. He went down to the train station to meet them. They came alone all the way from Las Vegas. He asked some Indian children if they had seen the Lewis kids and they said they were Nathan's kids. After grade school, they went back to live with Uncle Nathaniel.
