Thomas Vigliarolo
Thomas Vigliarolo's father was Guiseppe Vigliarolo (1892 - 1971), born in Calabria Italy. His mother was Jennie Dascoli (1904 - 1978), born in Italy. He had one brother, Anthony, born in 1927. The 1940s census shows he was a student at the Industrial School For Boys living on Harvard Road in Shirley, Middlesex Massachusetts living with a number of boys his age which I assume was a boarding school. Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy on January 12th 1943 and was released on January 5th 1946. According to his World War 2 draft card he was 21 years old, unemployed and living in Brooklyn when he registered. He weighed 164 lbs, had a light complexion, brown hair & brown eyes. His next of kin was his mother Jennie Vigliarolo. Thomas married Nancy Anne Pecchia Vigliarolo (1927 - 2020), who was born and raised in Queens New York. Thomas and Nancy had daughter Janet. He is buried with his parents, brother, and wife. After World War II he eventually landed in New York where he became a businessman and ran the Nationwide Investment Corp. from his home in Long Island. He is likely best remembered as being the victim of a kidnapping in which seven people, three men and four women, abducted him, murdered him, and then stuffed him inside a trunk to let him die before asking for ransom money. An article initially published by the Associated Press on April 9th 1985 reviews the details of his death. See Seven Arraigned In Kidnap, Beating Death of Long Island Businessman After reading about the horrendous circumstances of Thomas' murder, you may wonder how (or why) anyone, let alone seven people together, could participate in such brutality. You can read an interview with one of the people who was convicted at Crime and Punishment?

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
