USA Merchant Marine Great Lakes
My father worked on the Great Lakes Freighters during the end of WWII and about 6 years after. I wrote the US Coast Guard and they sent me his records including this. What a surprise. I cherish it.

Hi There, I did the same thing for my grandfathers information and was I ever surprized...I also wrote to another place and they sent me my grandfathers "Medals and Letter from President Harry S. Truman...here is son more info. for you...write to....

and ask them if your father wasever awarded medals,commidations and or certificates,they will actuallysend them directly to you...providing you send them a copy of his DD-214 discharge paper...they will let you know right away... I sendmy letter out to them on the 6-8-2010 and I recieved my grandfathers stuff by 6-19-2010...they are every fast in responding...hope this helps..from one happy USCG-grand-daughter to the proud daughter of a USCG..Congrats and good luck...Trey
