He had siblings Frank C Demmerle, Charles R Demmerle, and Martin Demmerle. He married Ida Pauline Rolf, and had children Richard Rolf Demmerle and Alan Michael Demmerle. Walter Demmerle died at age 53 years old on March 16, 1947 in Nyack, Rockland County, and was buried in Mar at Woodlawn Cemetery 517 E 233rd St, in New York, Bronx County.
