He was married to Helen (Cook) Spurgeon on December 25, 1940 at Defiance OH 601 Holgate Avenue, in Defiance, Defiance County, and they were together until Ty's death on October 7, 1968. Ty Spurgeon was buried on October 10, 1968 at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
