Wayne Holbrook, 85, of Findlay passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Birchaven Village.

Wayne was born on November 13, 1927 to Walter and Della (Barker) Holbrook in Ashland, KY.

Wayne retired in 1971 from the Alpha-Portland Cement Company after 22 years of service. Wayne went on to work for the National Mine Company for 12 years. Wayne was a member of the Catlettsburg Church of the Nazarene for 32 years, and the First Church of the Nazarene in Findlay for 2 years. Wayne was a knife collector and had a great passion for gardening.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn (Robinson) Holbrook; daughter, Debbie (Randy) Daniels; grandchildren, Brandon (Sonja) Daniels, and Lauren Daniels; brothers, Burl and Donald (Carol) Holbrook; and a sister, Wanda Payne. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, and Johnny; and a sister, Dorothy.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 2 p.m. at the Catlettsburg Church of the Nazarene in Catlettsburg, KY. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to service (1:00 – 2:00 p.m.) at the church on Thursday.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, KY

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
