This is a photograph of William Smith Bean as a young man. William was born in Georgia, the son of Mariah Frances Harris and Oren Spotford Bean. His father, Oren Spotford Bean, was a prominent citizen of old Camden county, GA, where he owned and operated a number of sawmills. William was in partnership with Mr. Presley Bailey in a large sawmill for twenty-two years. On the night of Oct 21, 1905, William was shot at Bailey's Mill.
