Zachariah Hardin Medford
Zacharia Hardin Medford was born 1810 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee and died 18 May 1874 in Hico, Hamilton Co., Texas. He married Martha Wilkes 5 March 1830 in Morgan Co., Alabama. They were the parents of eight children. He Married Elizabeth Ward 7 October 1949 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi.They were the parents of eight children. His third wife was Sarah F. "Sallie" Lane married 1862. They were the parents of seven children.The names of all the children born to Zachariah can be verified by viewing the 1850,1860,1870 and 1880 US Census. Folk lore has it that Zachariah was buried in a pasture on his farm and later moved to Hico Cemetery, Hico, Hamilton Co. Texas. There is a large block of cement inscribed Zachariah Hardin Medford as a grave marker in the Medford Plot at the Hico Cemetery. It is beside the grave marker of Elizabeth Ward Medford and several other Medford family members. His son Zachariah Harding Medford Jr.is also buried in the Hico cemetery but not in the Medford plot.
