Alvin lived and died in the state of Florida and attended St Brendan High School in Miami. He had a twin brother, Alex, and they both attended the University of Miami and were building as business together (American Investment).
Alvin was shot by a policeman in a Miami office building because the beat cops didn't know that Alvin was in the office legally. Three shots were fired and one hit Alvin in the head, killing him. A couple of days before the incident, the office had been burglarized and the detective who investigated the burglary neglected to inform the beat cops that the office would be occupied by Alvin overnight as he was working at his business.
According to a newspaper account of the incident:
"For reasons known to no one now, Alvin Barroso left his shoes behind, opened the office door, stepped into the hallway carrying his .38-caliber revolver and was shot by Losada (the officer) - for reasons known only to Losada. The officer's lawyer advised him not to give homicide detectives a complete, formal statement of what happened."
