Nellie's Mother died only weeks after giving birth to her, and she was raised by her Father and older siblings.
John Morgan Wallace had moved out to Kern County, California from Augusta County, Virginia in the late 1880's, along with other family members. He was working as a Quartz Miner and Rancher when he met Nellie Beatty...... they married in 1894 when Nellie was 17 years old and John Morgan Wallace was 30. They would have two sons together, Henry Newman Wallace in 1895 and Marshall Malcolm Wallace in 1896. By looking at the family photographs that we have, it appears that Nellie was a loving Mother to her boys and a good wife to Morgan.
Nellie Virginia Beatty Wallace died at the early age of 24 on April 22, 1901.
She is buried in the same cemetery as her Mother and other siblings in Kern County, California. She is lovingly remembered by all the family members who know of her through stories and photographs.
