He married Marianna Mayo Anderson in Richmond, Virginia in 1850. He was the father of Mary Washington Bolton Chesterman, Edward Henry Bolton, and Francis Deane Bolton.

Mr. Washington Bolton Dead.
He passed away yesterday morning. Mr. Washington Bolton, probably the oldest tailor in Richmond, died at his home, No. 505 West Clay Street, yesterday morning at 3:45 o'clock. His funeral will take place from the residence this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.Deceased was 79 years of age, and had resided in Richmond for sixty years.He was born in James City County. His wife died about two yers ago, and there now survives three children --Mrs. R.D. Chesterman, Mr. E.H. Bolton, and Mr. F. D. Bolton of Norfolk. Deceased was a gallant Confederate soldier, serving with distinction in Parker's Battery. He was wounded at Spotsylvania Courthouse.

Mr. Bolton married Miss Marianna Mayo Anderson in 1850. The library of Virginia has their marriage bond on file, "Washington Bolton M.S. Bond 1850 Jan.22 bono exe. license issued."
Mr. Bolton enlisted in the Army of the Confederacy in Parker's Regiment. He was wounded in battle,vulnus sclopeticum (defined as multiple flesh wounds.) and treated several times in Richmond's Winder Hospital.

Francis Deane Bolton and Edward Henry Bolton
These two photos are of Francis Deane Bolton (1856 - 1901) and Edward Henry Bolton (1860 - aft. 1930.)They were the sons of Marianna Mayo Anderson and Washington Bolton, and younger brothers to Mary Washington Bolton Chesterman, all of Richmond, Virginia.
Deane Bolton was married to Rosalie Clash and had two daughters, Hannah and Marian. Deane worked as a representative for a printing company until his untimely death due to pneumonia. His widow married Thadeus Foster several years later.
Edward was a blacksmith for the railroad, working on locomotives. He married Elizabeth Gunzert and had seven children; Ida, Henrietta (Yetta), Edward S., Frank, Marianne, Laura and Charles.
As their father was a tailor by trade, he may have used copies of these photographs to promote sales of young men's suits.
