ST. ARNAUD, Friday.
William Bradbury, a well known driver on the railway between Maryborough and Donald, met with a fatal accident this afternoon. After taking the train from Maryborough to Donald, he inspected the engine going out to Birchip, and it is surmised that when alighting he slipped from the footplate on to the rails. The engine ran over both his legs, which were horribly crushed. He was brought by special train to St. Arnaud Hospital, and died about an hour after admission. Deceased leaves a widow and family.

Ray Douglas Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 to Leonard Spaulding Bradbury and Esther Moberg Bradbury in Waukegan, Illinois. They briefly lived in Tucson, Arizona before settling in Los Angeles, CA in 1934.
He married Marguerite McClure on September 27, 1947 and subsequently had four daughters: Susan Bradbury (1949), Ramona Bradbury (1951), Bettina F. Bradbury (1955), and Alexandra Bradbury (1958).
Bradbury was a an American science fiction, fantasy and horror writer. He claimed that only Fahrenheit 451 was a science fiction novel, all others are fantasy. He wrote more than 27 novels and 600 short stories. His best known writings are Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, Dandelion Wine, Something Wicked This Way Comes and the Illustrated Man.
In addition to his literary contributions, he also contributed to Disney’s Spaceship Earth at EPCOT and the Orbitron at the Disneyland Parks in Anaheim and Paris. He also provided the concept and script for the U.S. Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair in 1964.
Bradbury died at the age of 91 on June 5, 2012.

Fannie Francis Bradbury (10 Nov 1875 Arcola, Douglas Co., IL to ca. 1967 1967) was the daughter of Bennis "Ben" Berry Bradbury of England and Alice Pink Ashbrook of Ohio. She was briefly married to Arthur Carter Louthan (b. 26 May 18560 Arcola, Douglas Co., IL) although her obituary states that she was always single. The incident which separated this couple is recounted in "Murder and Mayhem in Old Arcola."

Miss Fannie Francis Bradbury, 92, life long resident of Arcola died at 6:00 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday, in the Fishel Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Shrader Funeral home with the Rev. John E. Green officiating. Burial will be in the Arcola cemetery.
Miss Bradbury was born in Arcola, Nov. 10, 1875, the daughter of Ben and Alice Pink Bradbury. She was never married. She was a member of the First Methodist church. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
