History

I hear it came over with a happy, hearty lot of these seafaring Scandinavians as they left their homeland en route for America. Looking back as they were further and further away the view was solely of "flat land."

Name Origin

My mother, Audre Fladseth, believed the name to be imported with her ancestors from Norway, and referred to the landscape there. Loosely translated it is said to mean "Flat Land," although i would not know how to verify this information.

Historically, Fladseths, in that they are all Norwegian Fladseths, are a rather somber lot; hence the joke heard every so often during lefse making or poker games, "Hey, did you hear about the Norwegian guy who loved his wife so much - he almost told her?" Covers a lot right there. Oof da.
