Douglas Lowther Eric Gorringe was born on October 26, 1919 to parents Eric Lowther John Gorringe (1893-1970) and Sylvia Kathleen Barwick (1894-1976).
In 1942, he married Doreen Gloria Murphy.
Douglas was a Flying Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II. As a Flying Officer, Douglas would have been responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of aircraft, as well as the completion of missions that were essential to the war effort. He would have undergone extensive military training, including specialized training in aviation and navigation.
Unfortunately, Douglas did not survive the war and he passed away on October 28, 1942 at only 23 years old. He is buried at Port Moresby Memorial Panel 9., in Port Moresby, National Capital District County Papua New Guinea.
