Shortly thereafter she began work in New York's garment center where she met her future husband, George. They married in 1951 and had their only child, Raymond, in 1953. In the mid-'60s, Ida returned to the work force as a saleswoman for Gertz department store in Flushing, Queens. For the next 30-plus years, Ida worked in the same location as the store morphed from Gertz's to Sterns and ultimately Macy's. Much beloved by her friends, co-workers and family, Ida retired and eventually moved to Delray Beach, FL, to live near her son and daughter-in-law. She died in 2012 of complications from Parkinson's and Parkinson's dementia.
