Three Generation Photo of Three Very Strong Ladies
This is a photo of 3 Generations, going from left to right. The gentleman in the far back is Frank Riffle. My Great Grandfather. To the left of him is my grandmother Dora Belle Riffle Kelly, she is holding my cousin, Pam Shanks. To the back right is grandma’s mother Mae Hain Riffle,(My Great Grandmother) the elder in front, I believe is Amelia “Minnie” Putnam Hain. (My 2nd Great Grandmother). If I remember correctly that is what my late mother told me. 2nd Greatgrandma in front married Levi David Hain Sr., not to be confused with their son, Levi David Hain Jr. they lived a good deal of their year’s in Wessington Springs South Dakota. I hope this helps other’s out on their journey.

Having shared the photo (charcoal drawing) of my ancestor David Hain born in 1805 in NC, I thought it would be appropriate to share this unique photo of David's brother Jacob Hain. This photo was probably taken just a couple years before he died at the ripe old age of 99! I hope a descendant of Jacob's line will be able to comment further on this unique pioneer. Hain and Kimmerle Family Group Shot
This is a fun shot with the names hand-written on the side, so folks are identified, if you know them! I do know that Bill Hain (my great grandfather) is the gentleman squatting with the white hat in the lower right. I also know that Charlie Kimmerle is the gentleman sitting on the ground with the dark vest showing only his right side of his face, because of a birthmark/growth on the other side (so I've been told). Ed King (of the famous Wm King & Son Organ Manufacturers) is the white bearded gentleman standing in full suit behind Bill Hain.

Is this David Hain?
This is a mystery tintype or daguerreotype that my grandfather had with other Hain photos. This was unlabeled/unidentified.
Based on the charcoal drawing of David Hain (posted in my gallery) I've tried to identify this unidentified tintype (or daguerreotype?) as David with his wife and daughter Mary Jane. Wife Margaret died in 1845 when Mary Jane was 7 years old, so it's possible. The little girl might be about 6 or 7. The hair is styled in the same manner on the gentleman as it is on the David Hain charcoal drawing. Any opinions? Style of dress is hard for me to date. 1800's obviously.

Scott Hain died at the age of 32, executed by Lethal Injection, after being on Death Row 15 years. He was convicted of killing a young couple, Michael William Houghton-27, and Laura Lee Sanders-22, along with his accomplice Robert Wayne Lambert. The incident happened in 1987 when he was just 17. The last minor in the United States to receive a death sentence. Him and his buddy tried robbing a young couple they seen sitting in a car, then kidnapped them in their car by threatening them with a knife, took them to a rural road, forced them into the trunk of their car, cut the gas line, and set the car on fire. They died from burns and smoke inhalation. Lambert also received the death penalty. His last meal was: Three Cheeseburgers, Three Orders of Onion Rings, Ice Cream, and a Slush Drink. He denied any final statement.
