Three Generation Photo of Three Very Strong Ladies
This is a photo of 3 Generations, going from left to right. The gentleman in the far back is Frank Riffle. My Great Grandfather. To the left of him is my grandmother Dora Belle Riffle Kelly, she is holding my cousin, Pam Shanks. To the back right is grandma’s mother Mae Hain Riffle,(My Great Grandmother) the elder in front, I believe is Amelia “Minnie” Putnam Hain. (My 2nd Great Grandmother). If I remember correctly that is what my late mother told me. 2nd Greatgrandma in front married Levi David Hain Sr., not to be confused with their son, Levi David Hain Jr. they lived a good deal of their year’s in Wessington Springs South Dakota. I hope this helps other’s out on their journey.

Minnie as she was known, was one of the daughter’s of Levi David Hain Sr. And Maribee Putnam. Counting 2nd Great Grandma she had 9 siblings, 10 counting herself. Grandpa moved his family around often, but settled in Wessington Springs. Grandpa Hain was born February 14, 1837, in Indiana and died September 17, 1908 at the age of 71, in Crook Co., Wyoming. You can find for information on him, on find-a-grave, ID#171331596. Now Minnie’s mother was Maribee Putnam , her father was Orlean Putnam & mother Amelia Vanderhoof. You might know Orlean by his so called nickname as “Pontiac”. There is a very disturbing story about him and his mother, before the war of 1812.
