We had an antique store close recently and I "rescued" it, trying to find where it belongs. If anyone should recognize these folks, please let me know. Thank you.
I’ve “rescued’ an old photograph of Olive LARSEN and an unidentified boy which was taken at the Emory Studio in Omaha, NE. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890’s or early 1900’s with Olive likely in her 20’s and the boy about 5-6 years old. I am hoping to locate someone from this LARSEN Family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this LARSEN Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the EDGAR Family of Illinois and Nebraska. The first is a photograph of Albert EDGAR of Chicago, IL. The photograph was taken at the Hultgren Studio in Chicago, likely in the 1880's with Albert likely in his 20's at the time. The second photograph is one of Dora EDGAR which was taken at the Edoff Studio in Saunders County, NE and appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Dora likely in her teens or 20's at the time. Both photographs also include a note which says "Mom's Cousins" so they are clearly connected to each other as well. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the family: Albert EDGAR was b. 14 Jun 1867 in Ostergotland, Sweden and married Emma Tanquary HOTT or ANDERSON (b. 26 Mar 1870 in Frederick, VA) on 9 May 1896 in Chicago, IL. I at first thought this was Callie's son Jimmy, but in working on her tree, I now wonder if this is James L. Gill, who may have been a James Gill - Meade's father, mother sited as a Ballard in documents, then making Callie's son Jimmy be born around 1923. More research needs to be done, unless someone else recognizes him and can help me.

A photo of an unknown girl. This photograph was in an antique frame with curved glass that I bought at a garage sale from a "gypsy" woman who moves quite frequently. I do know that she came to Canada from USA - possibly Nebraska, which I believe is the origin of the photograph. The photo appears to be printed on cardboard which over the years has a permanent curve to match the glass, and is now brittle and water-stained
A photo of an unknown boy. I found some old picture frames with rounded glass at a garage sale, but it was not until I got them home did I realize that the pictures in them were real people. The pictures appear to be printed on cardboard - which has become stained and brittle and permanently curved to match the glass. We believe these came to Canada from some place in Nebraska USA - as the woman who sold them had come from USA several years prior

A photo of William Dettmer at The Cascade Threshing Company. The end of the Cascade Threshing Company run in 1920. The company was organized in 1919 with the following members: Dick Kirchhoff, John Dill, Ben Gibson, Herman Mitchel, Earl Towle, Chris Johnson, William Dettmer, Andrew Olsen, and Paul E. Gerard. This 25 horse power Reeves Engine, water wagon, and 36x56 Aultman-Taylor separator were purchased in 1919, second hand, in the Tekamah, Nebraska vicinity. After using one year, the separator was discarded and a new 36x56 Minneapolis separator, shown in this picture, was purchased. Pulling 9-16 inch plows in the Tekamah Gumbo Bottoms. The engine was a cross compound equipped for plowing. It had heavy gears, each traction wheel was 3 feet wide, the front wheels, each 16 inches wide. A 3 inch siphoning hose, carried over the cab when not in use, enabled the engine to take water from the water wagon on the move. 2 side tanks and a rear tank under the coal bunk would hold over a ton of coal. It took about 3-12 barrel tanks of water to fill the boiler, the supply tanks and the water wagon, a ton of coal, everything greased, a good hot fire, and the engine was ready to roll. The engine weighed 15 tons empty. William Dettmer, (kneeling and holding the collie mascot) Max, was the separator man; John Kirchhoff, the water-boy and by the front wheel, Paul Gerard, engineer.
