This is a group picture of Lanier Woman. The woman on Top Left was the new bride of Douglas Lanier, Marguerite Florence Bolleter Lanier. The young girl on the far top Right was Douglas's younger sister, Annie Lanier. Annie's mother is in the Middle, Letitia Buford Lanier. I believe this picture was taken in Beaumont Texas where Douglas & Annie Lanier were born and Letitia lived. Letitia was the wife of Judge Junius Fisher Lanier who was instrumential in the start of "Spindletop" oil well in Beaumont in 1902 and the Gladys City Oil Co in Beaumont Tx.

Judge Junius Fisher Lanier. 2 time Mayor of Beaumont Tx. Son of Thadeus Peter Lanier & Mary E. Hudnall Lanier. Studied @ A&M college, admitted to the bar Sept. 1880. District Attorney fo the 1st Judicial District at 22 yrs of age. Had Law practice in Beaumont Tx 1880-1892. Was one of the founders of the "Spindletop" oil well in Beaumont Tx, helping write the Gladys City Co by-laws. Was one of the origional investers of Spindletop, but sold his interest in 1894. He was also acting Secretary of Gladys City Co. He was married to Letitia Buford in 1883 and they had 4 children, Lillian, Douglas, Annie, Junius Fisher Jr. Young JF died after being kicked in the head by a horse that he was trying to get out of the family garden. He was only 5 yrs old.

I believe this may be Laniers or Bufords, possibly Thadeus Peter Lanier & Mary Elizabeth Hudnall Lanier (his paternial family), My grandfather, Douglas Lanier always had them on his dresser so I know they are probably his Lanier family or Thomas Ridley Buford and Margaret McRea Buford (his maternial family)
