Nelson and Kate Smith
This picture is part of a photo album owned by Clara Bell Jenkins Donaldson (1888 - 1980, Arlington, VA).
Her parents were Sampson Jenkins and Zada L. Ballenger.
Handwritten above the photo are the names Nelson and Kate Smith. These are two of many unfamiliar names contained in the album. I'm looking for the relationship to Clara.

Mary Jane van Aken
A young married Mary Jane van Aken, married to Aaron LeFever. She was born June 6, 1838, at Esophus, Ulster Co., NY and died Sept 7, 1892, Port Ewen, Ulster Co., NY. They had four children, twins Chester and Ester (who died in babyhood), Marinus, and Vinal, my grandfather.

Samuel S LeFevre
Pic of Samuel S LeFevre. He married Sarah E Ackerman. Samuel was born on March 23, 1810, in Esopus, Ulster Co., NY and died June 18, 1887, NY.

Unknown Pretty Woman
A lovely, young woman in a striped dress. She may be an Ackerman, van Aken, or LeFever, possibly from or near New Paltz, NY. Could she be a dgtr of Samuel S. LeFevre and Sarah Elizabeth Ackerman?
Who is she? Could she be the dgtr of Samuel S. LeFevre and Sarah Elizabeth Ackerman? I wish you all could see a close-up of the eye nearest the photographer, because it looks as if someone hit her and note the sulky expression on her pretty face. I do not think that she is enjoys having her picture taken in that condition. Now I believe she is one of the dtrs of Samual and Sarah Elizabeth. The names of dtrs are; Phoebe Jane b 1839; Charlotte b 1844; Catherine Ann b 1846; Selina b 1851; Martha b. 1853; Aletta b 1856; Abigail b 1862.

Uncle Halliday
This is a cropped face from a photo in which there is a young woman my maternal great-grandmother, Maria Estelle Williams. On the back is written 'Uncle Halliday'. They are both mysteries to the family as to their families, etc. She was said to have come from 'out West', which in 1853 when she was born could have been anywhere west of New York State. It is possible that she was born in CT though. On her married licence it states that she was 'from Rome (or Rouse) NY'. Handwriting very bad. Where he comes from is a total mystery.
Does anyone know anything about him?

Maria Estelle Williams
This portrait is of my maternal great-grandmother, Maria Estelle Williams, of Rome, Oneida Co., NY. Not much is known about her. She is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Port Ewen, Ulster Co., NY, next to her hubby, Lucius Darling Smith, and a woman named, Emeline Williams, 1815-1881. Maria Estelle may have been born in NY.

1850 Woman
This pic was taken of a woman, perhaps in the 1850s, in New York state - perhaps Oneida or Ulster Co, NY. She may be a van aken, Ackerman, LeFever or Smith.

Hiram Smith
Hiram Smith lost his parents at about age 12. He had a sister named Frances and they were born in NY state. He was a fireman in New York City as a young man and retired to Florida in his later years. He had a son and a dtr, Frances.

Maness Family Portrait
This family group is the Maness family, minus the father. They lived in Swansboro, NC. This Maness family is a later picture of another Maness family picture, with husband - also on this website. Now, as you can see, the family has more children (at least in the pic). The other picture was of a dark-haired man and his wife (hair worn in a pompador style and frilly blouse with puff-sleeves), a boy about 5 years and baby girl. In this picture the people are: Charles Street Maness; mother, "Sudie" Pridgen Maness; young child on her lap is George A, b. 1911 and died May 1917, child behind with hat is Hilda Ethlyn and the boy in front is Jarvis Teddie.
