Maness Family of NC

This attractive group is the family of Eli "Manly" Thomas Maness, his wife, Persis Susan "Sudie" Valera (Pridgen) Maness, and two of their children, son, Charles Street Maness and dtr, Hilda Ethylene Maness. They had 7 more children later. All are deceased. They lived in North Carolina.

Maness Family Portrait

This family group is the Maness family, minus the father. They lived in Swansboro, NC. This Maness family is a later picture of another Maness family picture, with husband - also on this website. Now, as you can see, the family has more children (at least in the pic). The other picture was of a dark-haired man and his wife (hair worn in a pompador style and frilly blouse with puff-sleeves), a boy about 5 years and baby girl. In this picture the people are: Charles Street Maness; mother, "Sudie" Pridgen Maness; young child on her lap is George A, b. 1911 and died May 1917, child behind with hat is Hilda Ethlyn and the boy in front is Jarvis Teddie.

Son of William Mancil Maness and Penelope Jane Harrington. Siblings of Jesse are: Rosanna (Rosanah?)F.,Thomas B., Marth (Martha?) J., John J. Maness, Mary Hattie, Verdie Maness-Bowers, Lugina “Gina” Maness-Bowers, Darling W.,

Jesse married: Lelar B. Eddins (04/13/1890 to 10/25/1941)
Their children are: James Marvin, Hallie Maness-Floyd, Robert Darling, William Mancil, Wade Hampton, Fannie Mae, Claude Benjamin, Verdie Leona Maness-Griffin, Bessie Marie Maness-Faulkner.

Jessie was injured in a saw mill accident and lost his right arm.
