Sallie Ann King (Linkous)
Individual on the right is Sallie Ann (or Sarah) King, daughter of William Riley King and Cynthia May Bland of Tazewell, Virginia. She is my Great Grandmother. I recently located her death certificate which verifies her parentage. She was born July 16, 1865 and died January 8, 1942.

Found this photo in my deceased mother's things. I believe these people to be associated with the Linkous Family and may be Abraham & Emaline Simpson Linkous. Abraham was the son of John Linkous & Elizabeth Trollinger and the grandson of Henry Linkous & Elizabeth Shiflett.

Found this in my mother's old photos and believe it could be Abraham Linkous (son of John Linkous & Elizabeth Trollinger) as I have a photo of his son George W. Linkous and the resemblance is striking, especially the eyes.

Frederick Cornealious Linkous was born in Rogersville Tennessee to Thomas Lucian Linkous (1898 - 1975) and Nora P (Thomas) Linkous (1901-1925) and had a brother Carson. He was married to Mary E. (Davis) Linkous (1923-1994) and had three sons and three daughters, one of which passed away as an infant.
Fred enlisted as a private on August 24th 1943 in Fort Oglethorpe Georgia and received service number 34883834. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the European theatre.
According to the 1950s census, Fred was 29 living with his wife Mary (age 26) and their son Timothy D. Linkous age 1 in Sullivan Tennessee.

My grandma was the most kind, caring, tenderhearted woman I have ever known. I was just 15 when she died. I remember her mashed potatoes and gravy she made for every holiday dinner. They were amazing, and I make mine the very same way she did. I also remember her setting her boombox stereo up for me out in the front yard, complete with a bright orange extension cord powering it up. I would blare Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be an American," and stand in her front yard with my hand over my heart, singing along at the top of my lungs. For hours. She had this attic bedroom that my aunt slept in as a child...Christmas Eve nights were best spent up there. My grandma Vie told me, right before she died, that once she was gone, she would come back to visit me as a beautiful, bright Monarch Butterfly. Any time I saw one, I was supposed to know it was her. And that is how it has been for me, since her passing in 1995. I love you, Grandma Vie. RIP.
