A photo of the lovely and talented Mary Tyler Moore who brought such laughter to the world. Born in 1936, MTM began as a dancer at age 17. (She was "Happy Hotpoint" in the Hotpoint appliance ads.) But she quickly moved on to acting and appeared in numerous successful tv shows (The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mary Tyler Moore Show being the most well known) as well as movies such as Ordinary People, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. She also worked for Diabetes Awareness (she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 33) and animal rights. And she was an incredible business woman. She touched each of our lives in many, many ways.
