John Elias Namey was born to Elias Namey (1891 - 1940) and Sophia Mukedsey (1892 - 1971). He was one of six brothers who served in the Armed Forces during World War II.
John was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Force until November 2, 1945. He was a T Sergeant in 4112 Base Unit AAP and was shot down while flying a mission over Germany. A prisoner of war for eleven months, he received the Purple Heart and various other awards.
John Namey married Mary (Eysie) Namey. They had one son and one daughter, John F. and Linda Lee Namey.
