I visited my grandparents, Aleric and Hazel Oshier, in this house. It was blue way back then. The kitchen always smelled like my grandmother, we called her the French term Memere.

I grew up knowing my grandparents, we used the French Memere and Pepere, and I spent a few summer weeks at my great grandmother, Delia Ayotte's house. She passed away when I was around 7 yrs. old. I never knew my Great Grandfather, he passed before I was born.

Hazel Mary (Ayotte) Oshier of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY was born on June 1, 1906 in Lake Placid, Essex County. She was married to Aleric Oshier on December 28, 1925 in Tupper Lake, Franklin County, and had a child James Lawrence Oshier. Hazel Oshier died at age 88 years old in August 1994 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County.
Aleric was my grandfather. He married Hazel Ayotte Dec 28, 1925. I remember we had their 50the anniversary celebration at their house in N. Tonawanda, NY. All the family, cousins, aunts, Uncles, were there. The house seemed at the seams with all the people. I was 11 or so at the time. When Memere Ayotte was still alive, she passed in 1974, Aleric and Hazel would some years take me with them to Tupper Lake to visit the family there. They made this trip at least once a year. We would stop at the springs, I later found out were called Lumberjack Spring, discovered by his father, Louis Elias Oshier. And we would see bears. Loved those days! There is a lot about Aleric and Hazel. The had 5 children, Eleanor, Maurie, James (my father), Virginia, and Louis.

R.B. Oshier, Representative of the State "U" Extension Division stayed at Hotel Sacred Heart, Sacred Heart, MN in June 1914. I'm looking for a copy of the history he presented to the community.
