Kyle B. Stracner was the son of Priscilla Lee (Whitted) Strole, who was beaten to death in her Fairfield home on Aug. 31, 1983 by Robert Hathaway, who was a "friend" of Kyle's.
Kyle was only 15 years old when his friend Robert (also age 15) was admitted to the home by Kyle's mother, Priscilla. Robert proceeded to sexually assault and beat Priscilla to death and then stole various items from their home in Fairfield California on August 31 1983.
Unfortunately, Kyle died in 2004, 10 years before DNA evidence linked Robert to Priscilla's murder. On February 15th 2014 Robert hung himself and left his wife a note saying he took the coward's way out.
On the night of the murder, Kyle Stracner, then 15, left his house around 7:30 p.m. to spend time with friends. When he returned home around 9:45 p.m., he knocked on the door and got no response. Looking through a window, Stracner saw his mother lying naked on the floor and called police from a neighbor's house. Authorities found Priscilla Strole on the living room floor of her home, beaten to death. She had been sexually assaulted and had received injuries to her face and head from kitchen knives, a can opener, and a piece of decorative wood, according to police.
Robert Hathaway went to the same school as Stracner and had been to his house before, so it is believed Priscilla let Robert into the house willingly. Hathaway hanged himself on Feb 15, 2014, after police confronted him with new DNA and fingerprint evidence that implicated him in the crime..
We know that Kyle lived in California for the majority of his life and that his mother's maiden name was "Whitted". He was born in Contra Costa county on August 24th, 1968. Records show that Kyle lived in Fairfield and Lodi CA.
