I was devastated to hear about the passing of my beloved, Charles Strouse. The amount of rich memories that I recall at the mere thought of him is mind-boggling! The experiences we shared on the road to Broadway and way beyond are so etched in my memory, they feel as fresh and wonderful as they did almost 50 years ago. Whether it was Put On A Happy Face, Those Were the Days, A Lot of Livin' To Do or Tomorrow, there was no one more joyous and downright happy as Charles sitting behind the piano plunking out one of his amazing songs!
I am profoundly grateful to have been trusted by Charles and Martin to allow me to present their message of hope and inspiration through the indelible anthems in Maybe, Tomorrow, and the entire brilliant Annie score.
I write this as I am heading up to the Waterbury Symphony for a concert this weekend to sing Tomorrow. What a fitting tribute this will be to a man that I truly love, respect and owe so much to.
Much love and condolences to Benjamin, Nicholas, Victoria, William, and the Strouse family. Charles, I will forever miss you and treasure the memories.
