STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. - Raymond Windram, 70, of New Dorp, a retired container repair mechanic who enjoyed music and sports, died Thursday at home.
Born in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, he graduated from Brooklyn's John Jay High School in 1961.
Mr. Windram served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, assigned to the Third Battalion, Third Marine Regiment, and saw duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969.
He was a member and former commander of the Red Hook Memorial Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Oakwood Heights Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Windram moved to New Dorp in 1985.
He worked as a container repair mechanic at the Port Newark Container Terminal, Berth 51, until retiring in 2006.
Mr. Windram was a parishioner of St. Charles R.C. Church, Oakwood.
He was a past grand knight of the Father Michael J. Moroney Council, Knights of Columbus, in Brooklyn, and had played baseball for the council team.
Mr. Windram enjoyed listening to music, watching football, playing baseball and watching classic war movies.
The funeral will be Monday from the Colonial Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10:15 a.m. in St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.

Ripoll, Priscilla Jean,75, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away December 16, 2014. Priscilla was born July 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York to the late George and Rose (Chillemi) Windram. Priscilla was predeceased by her son, Christopher and her siblings, Rose Hunt, George Windram, Raymond Windram. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bridget (Eric) Bilmes, Mark (Belinda) Ripoll and Glenn Ripoll, grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Clayton, Cody, Harrison and Josephine. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Priscilla's memory to the American Cancer Society, 3363 West Commercial Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL
