My Great Grandmother Jessie Davis Father was Frank Davis. This photo is of his twin brother; Captain Henry Davis. Captain Henry Davis brought over “Cleopatras Needle” which is a statue in Central Park New York. He was a Whaling Ship Captain in the history of both Connecticut and Nantucket Massachusetts. I believe both brothers were born in Nantucket and retired on Nantucket Island, and both of the brothers worked in Connecticut.

A photo of L Doris Ritter Schwarz, Frederinne Dorothea RITTER Holmestrand, Norway 10 July 1865. Father, Christian Ritter b Erfurt, Germany 1838. Far right daughter, Elsie Schwarz Schletter. C niece Helen Fippinger, daughter. Fippinger farm Madison, Connecticut. On left Doris Ritter Schwarz. She was born Frederinne Dorothea RITTER in Holmestrand, Norway on Monday, 10 July 1865. I believe it was her father, Christian Ritter from Erfurt, Germany who is commemorated on The Ritter Mystery Cup. The lady on the far right is Doris’ daughter, and my grandmother, Elsie Schwarz Schletter. The twosome in the middle are unkown at this time but believed to be Fippinger family members (another mystery). The photo is thought to be taken on the Fippinger farm in Madison, Connecticut. Christian lived very near the Fippingers in Madison.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Curtis CAMP which was taken at the Moffitt's Studio in New Britain, CT sometime in the 1880's. Curtis appears to be in his 70's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Curtis and his family: Curtis Coe CAMP was b. 16 Oct 1807 in Middletown, CT to parents Fairchild CAMP (b. 15 Sept 1778 in Middletown or Durham, CT-d. 22 Apr 1854 in Durham, CT) and Melicent or Millicent COE (b. 25 Mar 1782 in Middlefield, CT-1854). Curtis was one of 10 children born to this couple including, William CAMP; Laura C. or Stow CAMP FOWLER; William CAMP; Eunice M. CAMP; Alvah CAMP; Eliza or Elizah CAMP ATWELL; Cornelia C. or M. CAMP; Curtis Coe CAMP; Alexander CAMP; and Enoch Fairchild CAMP, all born in Middlesex Co. CT between 1801 and 1827. Curtis was married two or three times, first to Sabina or Sabrina Abia HART (1817-1846) on 18 Jan 1844 in Connecticut, and his second marriage was to Mary E. HART or HARD (b. 1823 in New Britain, CT-d. 4 Jan 1861 in New Britain, CT) with another identified wife being Mary Wheaton ODELL. With his first wife Sabina he had a son, Theron Hart CAMP (1845-1932). Curtis died 26 Jul 1890 in New Britain, CT and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, CT. Census records provide the following details: 1850 census of New Britain, CT: Curtis C. CAMP, age 43, a Farmer, born CT Mary E. CAMP, age 28, born CT Theron H. CAMP, age 5, born CT Charles CAMP, age 14, born CT Susan HILL, age 19, born Ireland 1860 census of New Britain, CT: Curtis C. CAMP, age 52, a Farmer, born CT Mary E. CAMP, age 37, born CT Theron H. I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Cora RAYMOND of New Haven, CT which appears to have been taken in the 1870’s. Cora looks to be about 10 years old at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to her name and the location someone has also written “Our Beauty” on the back of the photograph. I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this RAYMOND Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks Shelley

I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of three women identified as “Bill’s Mother and Aunts” which also includes the name of William POMRAY (wondering if it might actually be POMEROY) in care of Thomas THORP. The photograph was taken at the Stevens Studio in Norwich, CT sometime in the 1890’s with the three women appearing to be in their 40’s at the time the photograph was taken. There is an “x” under one of the three ladies, so I’m guessing that is Bill’s Mother being specifically identified. I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

This was the leadoff photo in an album that Bertha Allen rescued in New Mexico. She asked what to do with it. I offered some counsel, and she kindly put it in the mail and made me its curator. I'll be glad to pass it on in my turn, to anybody with interest and/or a family connection. Some images include cryptic identification; most don't. They appear to date from within yelling distance of the start of the twentieth century. This one bears the logo of its professional photographer in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As I figure out more connections, I'll return to these entries to update them. Barbara Gosse has other Seeley & Warnock portraits in her Smith Marsh Card Burgess tree in Ancestry and suggests that this could be "one of the Burgess boys."

This is a photo of my great grandma Edna Colton. her maiden name is Anderson. She was married to herbert wentworth in Pittsfield Mass from 1910 to 1919, He died of the Spanish Flu and she married Herbert Colton of Hartford, CT in the 1930's. It is quite a story......i am also trying to find out who Louise Wentworth was. Per obituary of HEW, she was their adopted daughter. Louise was born 1905 in Pittsfield per the 1920 censes. My grandfather NEVER mentioned a sister and I want to know what happened to Louise. It is important to me.
This is Francis Synott & Dora Saunders, my grandparents, around the time of their marriage in 1917
