The picture is of a man and woman sitting in a hall.
They are obviously preparing for a celebration of something.
There are flags - one has a harp on it.
There are also pictures on the wall.

Sergeant Aynsley Stuart Forbes, RNZAF, 1940: This photo was taken on the occasion of the awarding of his pilot's brevet ("wings") in 1940 before he was shipped to war at the beginning of 1941. Because he was born on the 17th of January 1920 and New Zealand didn't ship servicemen overseas until they turned 21, he stayed in New Zealand doing extra training even though he had joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force the day war was declared on the 3rd of September 1939. He first shipped to Canada to join the Commonwealth Air Training Plan to do continental flying training, then on to Europe to an Operational Conversion Unit and finally to 15 Squadron, RAF Bomber Command where he flew Wellington bombers and, later, Stirlings. He was promoted several times and finished the war as a Flight Lieutenant (equivalent to an army Captain). He flew 14 missions over occupied Europe, before being shot down over the Netherlands in January 1943 and spending more than 2 years as a Prisoner of War. He became an airline pilot after the war, for more than twenty years in New Zealand, then in Samoa.

Walter Chatterton (1870-1955)‘s travel box possibly, because Walter, his parents and siblings moved to New Plymouth in the early to mid 1870s, so we would have been very young, so it could even be his father’s (Arthur Chatterton) or someone in his family? There is a lot of old writing on the Yellow print Page under the Reid of the box, it’s clearly from the Grimsby area in Lincolnshire, maybe from a port? It says things about the cost of taking animals onboard and things like that. I found this box in the bottom back corner of my grandfather’s museum/shed, it had spider webs and was quite dirty, so I cleaned it up a bit. If anyone knows anything at all about this box or the Chatterton family please do let me know! Walter is my great-great-grandfather. My email address is joshua.keijsers@fdmc.school.nz

Walter Chatterton, he was born on the 5th of September 1870 in Grimsby or near Mablethorpe both in Lincolnshire, England. He died on the 1st of February 1955 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. I coloured this photo through the My Heritage website, it was formally black and white. We know he lived In Mablethorpe in 1871 because of the census, so when he was a baby, but it is exactly not sure where he was born. This photo was taken at the now Samoan Methodist church in Fitzroy, New Plymouth, Walter and his wife Edith where having their 50th wedding anniversary. Walter’s last address was 18 Princess street, Fitzroy, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Erlier in his life when he was having children he lived on a farm at either Onewhaia road or Te Roti road both in Te Roti, Taranaki, New Zealand. When Walter was a child he and his parents and siblings farmed out probably somewhere on Kent Road, Taranaki. He, his parents and siblings moved to New Plymouth in the ship “Halcyon” in the mid to early 1870s. He married Edith Minnie (Minnie) Oliver on the 24th of May 1899 at the residence of Francis Oliver (1841-1926) (Edith’s father). My name is Joshua Keijsers, I’m 14 year old, I have a strong interest in many things, but some of my mains are archiology, history and genealogy. I have been focusing on the Chatterton family for almost a hole year now and have found a lot of information and stories on the family, but there is still so much more out there to discover about them. Walter is my great-great-grandfather. So if anyone knows of Walter, thinks they might be related to the Chattertons, or if you have absolutely any information regarding someone who has something to do with a Chatterton or has the same surname, please do send me a email. My email address is Joshua.keijsers@fdmc.school.nz
