I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. Bruno was a deaf epileptic of Jewish descent during the Nazi Reich in Germany. Bruno was sterilized because of his disabilities and later murdered via gassing by the fascist Nazi regime.
Marie (Munzesheimer) Oppenheimer was born in 1872, and died at age 97 years old in 1969. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Marie (Munzesheimer).
Moritz Oppenheimer was born to Baruch Oppenheimer (1833 - 1901) and Charlotte Rosenfeld (1836 - 1926). Both of his parents had been born in Germany. He had siblings Frida, Sophie, Simson, Gottlieb, Julius, Sigmund, Herman, and Henriette Oppenheimer.
Moritz married Marie Munzesheimer (1872 - 1969) and they had children Heinrich, Martha, william, Earnest, Bruno, and Gustavo Oppenheimer.
He lived in Germany until he was sent to a Nazi prison camp in 1940 in France. He stayed there for about a year and then embarked for Lisbon, Portugal, from where he left for New York City in June of 1941. Moritz petitioned to become a naturalized citizen of the United States in October of 1941 and he died in 1946.
Hyner Oppenheimer of Forest Hills, Queens County, NY was born on January 12, 1896 to Moritz Oppenheimer and Marie (Munzesheimer). They had a brother Bruno Oppenheimer. They was the parent of Hans Oppenheimer. Hyner Oppenheimer died at age 79 years old in December 1975.
