My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!

After spending time with you this weekend and sharing stories with the family, I've come to realize a lot. Mom forgave you the day she set you free. She said "we started our life together with a kiss so let's end it with a kiss" and you complied. Uncle Jay said you were sorry and wanted to come back but didn't think mom would take you back. Before you died, you told me your biggest regret was hurting mom and destroying the family and allowing others hurt us. We all forgive you, so rest in peace. Mom waited for you and in the last few weeks before she passed, she kept saying you were there. I'm glad you were there to show her the way. I'm glad you are together now. In a long discussion with our family priest, he assured me that the only marriage recognized in the eyes of our Lord is the vow you and mom took together. He says you can't change religions and marry because it just doesn't count. Same God and only he knows the truth and the way. So I'm at peace now knowing that. I pray for God to have mercy on Marie for all the destruction she has caused many people and the many marriages destroyed and for enjoying and inflicting pain upon so many. God help her. I also now know you didn't really love her because if you did, you wouldn't have been with all of the other women while you were with her. I also know that had mom accepted your affair and turned a blind eye to it as you asked, you would still be together. She just refused to share and I'm glad she chose the harder path. I guess that's why you held the divorce up for 5 years, but that was good for us. It gave us time to grieve the loss of the family and accept the choice mom made. As parents, you instilled so many wonderful qualities in us. You taught us to be kind, to be generous, to love and laugh, to enjoy family and help each other, to love and care for God's creatures and most of all, to respect ourselves. I thank you both for that. The family is united and we openly display our love for each other. We remember everything fondly and hold no resentment. We speak of all of you who are gone and laugh. So many great memories of parties, vacations with the fire department friends, vacations with friends and family, the summer BBQ and clam bakes (I still see you shucking clams), day trips with you, me and Paul on the boat on Wednesdays. So much joy and love. That's what I hold on to. That's what I emulate when planning for my kids, friends and family. We all love you and miss you and we pray for all of you always.
