I have fond memories. of Pop Nic known as Samuel Nixon, they called him Nico.
he married my grandmother Mary Henrietta Thoburne they had seven daughters no boys.
They lived in Gladstone Street, South Melbourne
He was a gentleman. He worked very hard on the wharf.
He would go down the ships that came in and shovel coal all day.
Came home black so tired and would fall asleep in the shower staying up
He would sit in his chair fall asleep and I would take his shoes off and put his slippers on
then Nan would wake him and say give her some money for putting your slippers on
What wonderful memories I have living with them
